How to Pick Your Wedding Colors

3:00 AM

Wedding colors are probably one of the most difficult decisions a bride will make when it comes to her big day.  You have to worry about season, venue, not making your soon to be hubby angry with pink and purple overload, will your bridesmaids like the dress color, what flowers can you find to go with your totally not occurring in nature color scheme, and the list goes on.  I surprisingly didn't have too much of a problem figuring out mine so I thought that I would share a few good tips I've learned along the way!

Pictures Are Worth A Thousand...
...colors.  Find a photo that inspires you! Maybe you're one of those brides that have been planning your wedding via pinterest even before you met Mr. Right-which is totally fine and 100% normal-so you probably have quite a few images pinned that just screams this is my wedding at you. Pull three or four of the colors from that photo and make that your wedding pallette.  This way you not only have an image of what you want your wedding to be like but you also have more than a few colors so you don't have to worry about it being too matchy-not every item at your wedding has to be purple and navy if those are your colors.

Timing is Everything
So maybe you're that bride who strictly follows the unwritten seasonal rules of what colors are appropriate for what season. If this is the case, let the seasons and the great outdoors inspire you!  Fall is known for warm colors like the changing leaves and seasonal produce available.  Winter for silvery white snow and deep reds and plums like the berries you'll find growing during the frost.  Spring is for the pastels of the spring blooms. Let Summer be inspired ocean scenes and a tropical oasis.  Needless to say, the seasons can give you endless amounts of color options.

Get inspired by your relationship
Pull inspiration from the most important part of the big day-your relationship!  Maybe you both went to the same school together or love a sports team and that's how you find your colors-I don't 100% recommend this just because it may end up looking like a high school reunion or every Sunday at your house but hey, if it represents you both as a couple, go for it.  However, it doesn't have to be that obvious of a choice. You can be inspired by your engagment ring, or maybe even a photo of you both from a trip you took.  Even better, get your fiancé  involved in the choices of color.  Ask him what color he wants him and his groomsmen wearing or how he wants the wedding to look.  Don't forget, it is his big day too!

Pull From All of These!
The nice thing about choosing your wedding colors is that there are no rules.  For my wedding colors, I chose an item that represents our relationship (my engagement ring), roses, and my one of my fiancé's favorite colors.  The end result was blush, navy, and gold for our September wedding.

At the end of the day, don't stress!  The colors will come naturally so don't force it and get frazzled by all of the options or that maybe your favorite color doesn't match your dream venue.  Everything will work out in the end, so just enjoy the ride♥
